Shadow inventory is the new buzz word. The inventory are short sales that failed to sell and went or will be going into foreclosure. The map below denotes the up coming shadow inventory expected to hit the market in the next few months and what each state's anticipated months inventory will be, until sold.Published March 2012

CoreLogic released it's updated Negative Equity by State Report in September 2012. You can compare the results from the maps below and see how different parts of the US have improved since year end 2011. This is certainly a good sign but we still have areas in distress with negative equity.
The first map is the newest reporting as of September 2012 and shows the data compiled through Q2 2012.
The second map shows reporting for 2011 and published in January 2012
